MS-03: Collecting - Programs for Collectors Cassy Diakon Systems $20 #27281/1539 is a card catalog plus an accession and shelf list system for Dewey Decimal based libraries to assist in processing books and AV materials. The system maintains accession information for each item, and provides a means to print sets of catalog cards, accession lists, and shelf lists. CASSY is menu-driven and easy to use. About 1400 items can be stored on a 360k disk. Information entered and stored by this program may be merged into larger systems that include circulation processing and on-line card catalog features. Two drives are required. PC-Card Catalog Diakon Systems $39 #27281/2634 provides your personal, church, school, or corporate library with a powerful on-line card catalog. It is easy to use, yet sophisticated enough for academic research, allowing you to search by title, author, and subject. It automatically files items in AACR2 (that is, "library-", not strict "ASCII-") order. It is compatible with "Cassy" (#1539), above. Book Librarian 1.52 [BOOKLIB] Turner, Lemuel D. ASP $39 #27281/3932 will help organize and keep track of a library of books. You can search by title author, subject or book type. Information which can be entered for each book includes title, author, subject, type, edition, pages, copyright year, catalog number, ISBN, purchase date, price, publisher, location and up to 30 lines of notes. Personal Library Manager Portable Solutions $30-$40 #27281/3653 is for tracking and management of a personal library. Over 1 million titles, with over 9,000 editions of each title can be entered. The data files created are Paradox 3.5 compatible. A wealth of detailed information can be tracked, and several sorted printing options are available. Requires DOS 3.3+, 512k RAM, CGA or better video, and a hard disk with 1 Megabyte of space available. Sandd's Book Guide 1.3 [SBOOK13] Sandd Software ASP $30 #4896 (12-93 CD) is a cataloging system for your library of books and magazines. The program features autosave, a report generator, VGA screen fading, Dewey decimal sorting and up to 800 lines of description for each book. You can also attach multimedia files to entries and view the title and a picture of, say, the author. Requires 512K. Collect! 20 [COLLECT2] (11-93 CD) Alston, Gary L. ASP $40 #3312 is a basic, easy-to-use database that can be used to track a variety of common household collections. Sample databases are included for Antiques, Audio, Baseball Cards, Books, Movies, and Stamps. This makes a lot more sense than having a separate program for each type of collection you have. Collect! can tell you the change in value of items, the total value of items, and more. Additional features include Windows 3.0 support with a PIF file and an icon, case insensitive searching, and numeric inequality and range searches. You can mask any field for producing customized reports. 720+ disk space required. Collect! Alston, Gary L. ASP $40 #4183 is the VGA graphics version of a database that tracks a variety of common household collections. A VGA 3D graphics presentation is included, in addition to many other features from the text version of Collect (#3312, above). Requires a 286+, at least 512K free RAM, and a mouse. Coin Collector JetStream Development $33 #27595/3829 keeps track of your coin collection. Coins sold are automatically added to a special sales database which reports the profit/loss on coin sales over a specified period of time. Included is a dictionary of commonly used coin terms. Lists can be listed or printed in various ways. PC-Coin & Coin File Duchek, John R. $25 #27595/0498 is a system of programs and datafiles designed and written for my own use to keep an accurate inventory of my coin collections. Be sure to read all of the manual before trying to run this. CurrencyTrax 1.21 DataEase Software $15 #27595/4495 is a database for your currency collection. Information is recorded for denomination, type of currency note, series of issue, face and reverse descriptions, signatures of the Treasurer and the Secretary of the Treasury, color/description of the seal, issuing bank code, serial number, grade or condition of the note, year obtained the note, amount paid in, current value, where you have it stored, and miscellaneous notes. Requires 512K RAM. World Coin Album Weinberg, Alan $30 #27595/2290 is similar to the World Bank Notes program, but is for coin collectors. KeyCoin 1.1 Keyware $15-$30 #27610/3934 [2 disks] is a coin collector's inventory with data files for all U.S. coins issued from 1793 to the present. It reports the value of the entire collection, one specific set, or all sets of one denomination. It lists all missing coins in any one set. You can also print lists/files, archive and recall files, merge two files and more. Movie Database Balkan, Eric $? #27837/613 contains information on over 3500 movies which are currently available on videotape. With the database you could, for example, get a list of Debra Winger's movies or director John Carpenter's movies or just movies that Sally Field and Jeff Bridges made together or which movies based on Alistair MacLean stories, etc. Movies To Go 1.4 ImagiSOFT, Inc. ASP $43 #27837/4566 [2 disks] is an electronic guide of 1,000 movies reviews. It allows you to search for movies with your favorite actor or actress; best directors; specific categories such as comedy, drama, westerns; a particular MPAA rating; Academy Awards winners; highest box office gross; music and more. There are 25 categories to choose from, animated icons, 3D buttons, graphic menus and mouse support. Requires 640k RAM and 1+ MB of disk space. Video Xref Xref Computing $10 #27837/4345 displays lists of Oscar winners by category, also showing the critic rating and the year the movie was made. ----------------- 1330 Music and TV Small Programs Disk ----------------- Audio II Whisnant, Rod $10 prints cassette tape case inserts. Works with virtually any dot-matrix printer. Program allows for the titles of both sides, headings for the artist's name, dates the tape was recorded, and a list of songs. ASCII line drawing is used. Cas-Tape.Frm & Vid-Tape.Frm Ford, Nelson ASP $? are forms set up on Word Perfect using ASCII graphics. On the part of the form that will be the spine when folded, you can type the names of the music albums or movies and on the side panel(s), additional information about the material on the tape. You can use any special fonts, bold, underlined, italics or other features that WP and your printer support as long the size of the printed form doesn't change (eg: don't put the printer into 8 lines-per-inch mode). Cas-Reel (CAS-REE) Csontos, Michael $? is to provide timing information for transfers of recorded material from reel-to-reel audio tape masters to compact cassettes. The motivation for writing this program was the frustration of repeatedly mislaying calculator programs and handwritten tables of this information. CD Librarian (CD-LIB) Vass, Garry J. $0 catalogs compact music disks. The information stored for each disk is: manufacturer, category, catalog number, physical location, conductor, composers or principals (up to four), titles (up to four lines of 40 characters each), and notes. Text is converted to upper case. You can scroll through the entries in the file or do a search. GeoSat Loewe, Jerry $0 is a geosynchronous satellite antenna aiming aid. Graphics required. InSat Day, Wayne $? calculates the aiming angles from any point in the northern hemisphere, for selected geostationary satellites.The satellites included in the data statements are those which would normally be viewable, and of interest to private TVRO earth station owners. Revolver Brown, D. $0 maintains a catalog of video tapes that are frequently reused (ie: a "revolving" library). This is in contrast to similar programs for maintaining catalogs of permanent movie collections. A printout lists the shows which are presently on the tapes and lists the tapes which you are ready to reuse. Tapes ready for reuse can also be listed on screen. The printout can be updated by hand until it fills up and then updated via the program for a new, clean catalog. Satellite Location Program 2.1 (SATLOC) Seaborn, Bob $10 calculates satellite dish aiming coordinates for all the geostationary satellites currently in the North American section of the Clark belt. After entering your latitude and longitude, a list of all the satellites by name is displayed with the aiming coordinates for each. Tape Maclean, R. ASP $? creates inserts for cassette music tape boxes. It prompts you for information for the spine and to list tape contents in two columns similar in format to the inserts that come with the tapes. Epson printer control code compatibility is required. VCRCover (VCRCOVE) Mooshool, Gerald D. $? prints a three-fold jacket cover insert for video tapes. The spine of the insert allows up to five movie titles (or other information) which can be seen without removing the insert. On either side of the spine, inside the tape box, are panels which allow for additional information. Frankly, this program really does nothing for you that you could not do with a word processor once you had laid out the form, but we've always said the same things about form management programs and people seem to love them, so we yield. If someone were to take a program like this and tie it into the Movie Database (on disk #613) to automatically pull up data about the movie, we would be a lot more impressed (hint, hint). VCRdBase (VCRDBAS) stores information about your video tapes and prints out labels to attach to the tapes. Now if anyone knows where to get pin-feed labels of a size that will fit on a VHS cassette, how about letting us know. VideoCat (VIDEOCA) Rawson, David R. $? is a very slick video tape catalog program. It has fields for program name and episode name, for tapes of TV series, and several category/type fields. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #1330 -------------------------------- -------------------- 2678 Music and TV #2 Small Programs Disk -------------------- CDCtrl 1.0 Johnson, Aaron $0 lets you play audio CD's in a CD-ROM drive. Multiple drives and shuffle play are supported. TapeMaker 1.6 (TAPEMKR) Alexander, Robert E. $20 will help you choose songs to record on a cassette tape and prints inserts for tape boxes. It lets you know how many songs can fit on the tape, finds the best order to record them so that you have the minimum amount of blank tape left, and acts as a database for your album collection. TV Partner 2.0 (TV-PAR) Crowther, James I. Jr. $10 is an easy-to-use program that lets you generate a customized personal TV schedule of your favorite programs plus a record of film or videotape highlights. The program can link with programs on commercial TV. The program features the ability to link with a library file of movie highlights to flag scenes of special interest and calculates their show times. Weekly or monthly schedules can be printed. TVTimes 2.0 Holgerson, Mark $20 creates a personal TV viewing schedule log. It is slick, fast, easy to use and comprehensive. You can enter regularly scheduled programs for daily or weekly viewing or enter one-time program viewing. It also keeps track of which networks are on which channels. Schedules can be printed or browsed on-line. VCRCode 1.0 The Good Doctor $0 generates VCR Plus+ PlusCodes for specified times, durations and channels. Video Filer (VIDFILR) Andrews, Scott $0 catalogs your video tape collection. Information about each tape is entered via an easy-to-use menu. Other features include the ability to perform searches by title or category, and label printing. -------------------------------- END OF SMALL PROGRAMS DISK #2678 -------------------------------- AlbumMaster Unicorn Software Limited ASP $20 #27222/12260 catalogs record albums. It can print catalogs, listings and labels. A search feature in each will find a single song title from anywhere in the database, even multiple sources. CDMaster 7.12 Unicorn Software Limited ASP $20 #27222/1401 catalogs compact discs. It can print catalogs, listings and labels. A search feature in each will find a single song title from anywhere in the database, even multiple sources. Audio Library DeFelice, Thomas $8 #27222/890 is an extensive program for keeping track of your music collection. It can list them alphabetically by either title or recording artist. It can further sort them by date, type, recording medium, song title and more. Has a flashy interface. CGA or EGA is required, as this program will not work on VGA systems. Robert C. Koch, Edison, NJ: "I cannot get the program to run. I have monographics video." PsL: Audio uses CGA graphics. SimCGA or HGCIBM (#860 Hercules Utilities) will allow most CGA software to run on your system. Cassette Master Unicorn Software Limited ASP $25 #27222/1689 will help you catalog your cassette tapes and assist you in printing catalogs, listings, labels and case inserts for the tape. There are entries for Tape Number, Artist, and up to 10 Tunes per tape side. Tape numbers can be printed on case inserts in double-wide and double-high for easier reading. There are three user defined fields, a custom form, criteria selections, and more. Music Library System McPaul, Douglas $? #27222/736 is a database program for recorded music with fields for composer, title, category, opus number, performers, comments and library location. Multiple index files allow the retrieval of data without having to sort it. The program is primarily designed to print reports that you can keep with your music collection. PC-Album Folsom, David A. $15 #27222/1350 keeps track of your record albums, like some other programs do, but it also has a feature for keeping track of the status of albums ordered from record clubs (such as Columbia House). ScrollZ 2.00 [SCROLLZ] Schell, Charles P. IV ASP $25 #12686 (MS-03) tracks all of your printed matter such as magazines, books or newspapers. A note section is provided for recording comments. It prints listings, catalogs, Rolodex cards, custom lists, and stats on your collection. Sue's Ornament Master Robichaux, Sue $10 #2639 is a database program for Christmas ornaments. It features bar menus and and pop-up windows. Four fields are included for a short name, long description, date acquired, and valued price. Other features include a Christmas party list, Christmas card list, and shopping lists. Requires a hard drive and 640K. TrainTrax 1.1 Scott, Doug $20 #4788 keeps track of a model railroad collection. Information is recorded for the type of equipment, model scale, model manufacturer, model name or number, model railroad name and road number, the prototype railroad, road number and manufacturer, color or paint scheme, original cost, current value, location, and miscellaneous notes. Requires 512K. U.S. Philatelist Professional 1.07 [USPRO107] Morken, Greg $33 #27810 (12-93 CD) aids in keeping detailed information about U.S. stamp collections, including stamp number, type, condition, cost, market value, and more. Up to 64k of space can be used to describe each stamp. A Market Value database is included. This is a very comprehensive program for serious investors. A hard disk is required. Pro~Stamp Smetana, Rob W. $33 #27810/1981 is a full-featured program to track and valuate stamp collections. It has pull-down menus, extensive help screen, and calculations are done for you. Worksheets are set up like most popular collectors' manuals. Other features let you print to a file, copy, locate text, move to end of worksheet, and print stamps missing from your collection. The program will handle up to 300 stamps. Stamp Album Weinberg, Alan $30 #27810/1884 maintains a catalog of information for stamp collection. Information that can be stored for each stamp includes the date acquired, country, issue month, issue year, stamp market value, issue value, quantity, catalog number, stamp condition and an additional area for comments. The program uses the Btrieve record manager for fast data storage and retrieval without the need for time-consuming sorting. Movie Guide SANDD Software Systems ASP $30 #27223/1815 is a movie database program that will catalog, sort, search and create labels. Information to be entered for each movie includes, name, director, actors, rating, fidelity (stereo), year the movie was made, a sort category, an area for a movie description and lots more. Videocat 7.3 Jackson, W. A. ASP $20 #27223/1528 catalogs video tapes, letting you record the title, year, subject, quality rating, MPAA rating, actors, director, tape number and index number. A label-printing utility lets you print labels for your tapes. Video Library DeFelice, Thomas $15 #27223/1412 keeps track of your video tape or video disc collection. For some reason, this year we have been getting three or four audio/video cataloging programs a month. Since most of them are virtually identical in function, we have not been accepting them all. This one will search the database by star's name, date, movie category, word or phrase in the description, movie rating and more, which some other programs will do, more or less, but we have to confess that we liked the programs screen designs as much as anything. A hard disk is recommended. This does NOT work with VGA systems. Video Master 8.1 Unicorn Software Limited ASP $25 #27223/1174 helps you catalog your video tapes and assist you in printing catalogs, listings and labels for the spine and front of the tape. There are entries for Tape Number, Title, Rating, Start Point, Star, Co-Star, and a five line Synopsis. You can search the catalog by Star, Co-Star, Rating, or Title. Data can be printed on standard size labels. Tape numbers can be printed on case inserts in double-wide and double-high lettering for easier reading. You can create multiple data disks, and the ability to do find operations on the Synopsis field is included. World Bank Notes Weinberg, Alan $30 #2289 is for keeping track of a collection of bank notes. You can instantly find the country of origin and up to 1000 characters in comments can be entered for each. Requires 512k. Cassette Buckman, John G. $20 #7836/1170 is a full screen editor similar to a word processor but made specifically to create paper inserts or labels for audio cassettes. An EGA version that comes on the disk uses the EGA's 43 line mode to make full screen editing of larger labels possible. The author is no longer at the address listed in the documentation. Cassette J Card 4.0 Kacmarcik, John G. Jr. $20 #7836/3454 is a customized database program used for creating J Cards to be inserted into an audio cassette tape case. The database can keep track of up to 9999 tapes. Each side can have up to 24 selections entered. This menu driven program allows you to easily add, edit, browse, or delete files. CTLabel Miller, Scott J. $10 #7836/3527 is a customized database program used for creating index inserts for a cassette tape case. It will also store the information for later recall and editing. Other features include mouse support, record delete function, a browse utility, a file rebuild utility, context sensitive help, efficient and complete data entry editing commands, and more. Disc-O-File Ilaria, Harry W. $20-$30 #7637/3651 [2 disks] will keep track of your musical compact discs. Information can be retrieved by artist, index or song and sent to the screen or printer. There are 18 predefined music catagories and each can hold up to 1000 CD's. Requires a hard drive and 640K. Mouse is optional. SoundZ 3.1 Unicorn Software Limited ASP $45 #4101 catalogs cassettes, CDs, albums and reel-to-reel tapes. It allows entries for title, artist, reference number, category, price/value, date of purchase, date of origin, unlimited number of songs per side with separate note entries for each tune, a liner note field of up to 5000 lines, and three user defined fields. It prints lists, catalogs, Rolodex cards, audio side labels, J Card case inserts, labels and more. Requires a hard disk. TV Schedule #0141 allows you to create a personal TV viewing schedule & video tape log. V : Log Sprenger Development $75 #4343 is a professional video library management program for SMPTE time-coded videotapes. You can easily log tapes, and search and sort them. The program can automatically calculate time codes, trim, copy, move, paste, read external files, mark/unmark, calculate total and block duration, and text and mail merge output. Start/stop/duration time codes, text video descriptions, and channels used are recorded. It also maintains a list of reel information including producer, client, date shot, etc.. Video Librarian 3.53 [VIDEOLIB] Turner, Lemuel D. ASP $39 #3751 will help organize and keep track of your video library. It maintains over 2 billion titles. You can print reports to the screen, printer or disk. It prints labels to place on your VCR tapes. It also features mouse support; up to 18 information fields about each title; a screen saver; browse and find windows and more. Requires 512K, and a printer. TRADING CARDS: ============== Rad Software #1 Delaroderie, Rad $10 each #7213/2291 [2 disks] is a set of home database programs by the same author: BallBase 2.3, for baseball card collections; BookBase 2.3, for books; CoinBase 2.3; MagBase 2.3, for magazine information; SongBase 2.3, for tapes or records; VCRBase 2.3 for video tapes; BioBase 8.3, a personal address book with several special features, including extensive search capabilities; and PostBase 2.3 lets you catalog your stamp collection in a practical and convenient manner. Each has its own shareware registration fee of $10. Although each is optimized for a specific type of data, they share common features, such as a slick and easy-to-use interface and a powerful define, search, and find functions that allow you to create sub-lists of a collection by entering up to nine separate search parameters. Another feature is the ability to cross-reference entries based on user defined key words. TCR Sports Card Guides 2.0 Taxonomic Computer Research $29 each #4562 is a powerful price and data guide for baseball and football sports cards. You may select cards by player name, card type, year of issue, price range, and card number. This is an extensive database of card prices for serious collectors. SportCheck - Baseball Edition Software Creations, Inc. $42 #27563/3748 [2 disks] keeps track of your collection of baseball cards. It contains data files for every major set from each of the seven prominent baseball card manufacturers including Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Bowman, Score, Sportflics, and Upper Deck, including current values. Several reports can be produced including Checklist, Inventory, Missing Cards, Cards For Sale, and Summary Report. Requires 1.3MB of disk space. A hard disk is recommended. SportCheck - Football Edition Software Creations, Inc. $42 #27563/3749 [2 disks] keeps track of your collection of football cards. It contains data files for every major set from each of the six prominent football card manufacturers including Topps, Bowman, Fleer, Philadelphia Gum, Score, and Pro Set. Requires 700K of disk space. SportCheck - Hockey Software Creations, Inc. $37 #27563/4102 keeps track of your collection of hockey cards. It contains data files for every major set from each of the seven prominent hockey card manufacturers including Topps, O-Pee-Chee, Bowman, Parkhurst, Score, Upper Deck, and Pro Set. Values for 300 complete sets are included. Requires 650k of disk space. Also included with this set: SportCheck - Basketball (disk #27563/4103) is a similar program for basketball cards. The following programs are specialized record-keeping programs for collectors. They are all by RCCO Research with a registration fee of $15 each. They all feature report writer, label printing, various sort options, calculator, text-search, mouse support, EMS support and a wide choice of printers. Each requires a hard disk. StampsNexus 1.0 [STAMPSNX] (RCCO Research; $15) is for stamps. BooksNexus 1.0 [BOOKSNX] (RCCO Research; $15) is for books. SportsNexus 1.0 [SPORTSNX] (RCCO Research; $15) is for sports cards. CoinsNexus 1.0 [COINSNX] (RCCO Research; $15) is for coins. ]]]]]
